The latest addition to our shelter family is Nodus. It is a minimalist, modern shelter. It's basic construction element is a glass field with a countertop roof. The number of consecutive fields is arbitrary, which makes it possible to create an essentially unlimited installation. We used our new shelter in the implementation of the project of exchanging old public transport stops in the city of Sokolov.
Construction and design
The structure consists of columns, which form the supporting part for both the rear cover of the shelter and the roof. What's more, in one piece, without disturbing other struts and beams. The columns are sufficiently dimensioned not only for the installation of glass (or other type of filling), but also for the installation of other functional elements such as seats, backrests and others. The shelter has a standard depth (covered area) adapted to the installation at the roads so that it fits comfortably on the sidewalk. Of course, it can be installed on any, even unpaved surface, where piles for columns are prepared.
The appearance of the structure and the whole shelter is very clean and modern. Glazing can be selected not only from behind, but of course also from the sides. We recommend solid roofs with translucent frosted glass. This does not obscure the space under the shelter and at the same time protects from direct sunlight. The roof glass is a safety VSG, which does not fail even in the event of a breakage and thus does not endanger anyone directly under the shelter. The glass on the back and side walls is ESG, which in case of breakage forms small fragments that fall to the ground. Again, this avoids the risk of serious injuries. The whole shelter is therefore safe. Glazed surfaces are designed so that in case of breakage it is not necessary to change large parts. Long-term operation and maintenance are thus economically undemanding.
Like all our other steel shelters, Nodus is already pre-coated with a hot-dip galvanized surface for long-term corrosion and maintenance-free protection. On request, the construction can be provided with powder-coated varnish to enhance the aesthetic impression and for additional long-term protection. The surface gets an exclusive and professional look in addition to any color. The color can correspond, for example, to the general visual style.
Customization
We rely on customized solutions. That is why some elements in an exclusive material design are used at the new stops in Sokolov. For example, seating elements made of stainless steel perforated sheet metal or wooden supports made of very durable and at the same time local acacia wood. Even in the basic hot-dip galvanized variant, these elements give the shelters a touch of exceptionality. The impression of 38 new shelters compared to the old painted structures with macrolon filling is incomparable. On request, the shelters were equipped with lockable aluminum showcases with precisely specified dimensions and durable unbreakable glass for timetables.
The challenge, but not unsolvable, for us was the installation of shelters even in very atypical, even restrictive places, such as a raised wall or a stair plinth of an existing fencing. We also populated these specific places and took full advantage of the Nodus shelter. We believe that our new shelters will serve the inhabitants of Sokolov long and well and will have a positive effect on the overall impression of public space in the city.
